After checking in I could not wait to see where I would be spending the night. I climbed the stairs and unzipped my entry door to the extremely spacious area for sleeping 6 people. It definitely exceeded my expectations. Honestly, as I walked into my accommodations all I could think was "This is soooo Cool". There was a large bed at the front and then two sets of bunkbeds at the rear.
The space was equipped with blankets and pillows, I brought my own sleeping bag. It also had electricity, which was a bonus. When I travel, it is a huge bonus to have somewhere to charge my camera batteries and my laptop. It is a fun way to camp, but not camp. Over the back bed was a window that you could open with a screen or you could open that as well to enjoy the beautiful view. I was staying there in early September, so nights got a bit chilly, they even had a space heater for the area.
The view out the front window was beautiful! If you looked off to the right, you could see the Tetons. “I really get to sleep here!” This was definitely an experience I would treasure. I am sure the more you listen to me you will see that my passion lies in experiences not material objects. People often ask me how I can afford to travel. To me the answer is simple. I spend my money differently. There are things I choose to go without so I can do the things I love, travel being high on that list.
After settling in I decided to take a look around. Just off the side of their restaurant and bar was a spacious deck area with amazing views of the Tetons. It was a beautiful place to enjoy a cocktail and soak up the beautiful surroundings.
Their bar and restaurant were beautifully decorated with a rustic western theme. They had bar stools made from saddles and chandeliers made from antlers. There was something to look at in every corner. I had a lovely meal with a couple traveling through the Tetons and Yellowstone. I love meeting new people and hearing about their travels. Like the saying goes “Places to see and People to meet” That is one of my favorite things about traveling.
After dinner I cracked open a local microbrew and sat on the back deck to watch the sun set. It was the perfect spot for the amazing sight. As the sun sank low it also left the peaks of the Tetons a silhouette in the sky. After snapping more than a few photos I settled in for the night in the Covered Wagon. I had left the window open so I could see the star filled sky while I fell asleep. There is nothing like sleeping under the stars with fresh air filing your lungs and dreaming of what is yet to come.
Would I do it again, you may ask? I would have to say, absolutely! I have a list of places I want to bring friends to visit. This is a must stop with friends! Next on my list would be the town of Ten Sleep for their brewery, but I’ll talk about that another time.
